Datascape aims to achieve the same objective with the data that humanity creates,
as a “landscape” does for the natural world we live in, that is
“To capture and communicate all the visible features of an area of land,
often considered in terms of their aesthetic appeal”.
Nothing in the world can change from one reality into another unless it first turns into nothing, in other words,
into the reality of the between stage. This is the primal state which no one can grasp because it is a force which precedes creation and is driven by nature itself. I believe that being in tune with this intuition is key to creating data visualisations
that are both effective and aesthetically pleasing. Nature is an extraordinary designer.
It blends form and function in efficient ways to create structures that simply work.
My work is based on these core principles:

  • Design that is driven and in tune with our inner nature, the external environment that the design will be consumed in and where it comes from.
  • Design that leverages our inherent preoccupation with pattern which is how our perceptions make sense of the world around us – we constantly try to understand our ever changing highly complex existence by seeking order in it.
  • Design that makes use of natural earth colours and shapes we resonate with at a deep subconscious level.
  • Remembering to look out of the window, step out the door and notice where design really all started… in nature.
